Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, is sponsoring 13 football players from Kokona LGA to Accra, Ghana for football trials.
The Speaker disclosed this while addressing the player’s “Team Speaker” in his office in Lafia, the state capital on Tuesday.
He urged the players to be good ambassadors of Kokona LG, Nasarawa State, and Nigeria while in Ghana and beyond.
Jatau said that the younger players emerged during the recent unity competition he organized for the youths of the 11 wards of Kokona LGA.
Daily Trust reports that it’s the first of its kind in the history of Kokona LG, says Coach Bawa.
“The selection of these players emerged due to the Unity Competition I organized for the 11 electoral wards of Kokona LGA. The reasons why I have decided to organize the competition are first, for the unity of our LG.
“Secondly, I want to discover talents among the youths. As you can see, we have discovered their talents through my competition. If I did not organize the competition, we wouldn’t be able to discover their hidden talents” the Speaker said.
Earlier, Coach Bawa Mohammed A Umaisha, Director of Sports, ECOWAS Commission said that he was in the Speaker’s office to present the players to him ahead of their move to Ghana on Saturday, November 16, 2024, while describing the Speaker’s gesture as first of its kind in the history of Kokona LGA
